A Beginner’s Guide to Cleaning Your UTV
A crucial part of owning a UTV is all the care and maintenance responsibilities that come with it. One easy way you can care for your side-by-side is to keep it clean. Whether you’ve been using it for work projects or have been riding for a while on the trials and the dirt and mud are building up, now’s a good time to give it a good scrub. We have provided you with a guide to getting this done efficiently.
Pre-Soak
The first step is to completely soak all parts of your UTV, so even the dried-on mud and dirt will come off more easily. Sometimes you might have to scrape off more stubborn layers of dirt. Make sure the runoff goes where it’s supposed to go, like in the street, and not in your yard.
Pressure Washing
Another way to wash your UTV is to use a pressure washer that releases water at a high intensity. It strips the dirt and mud off your side-by-side, without stripping paint and finishing. You can even use a hose and nozzle, and adjust the setting, to rinse your vehicle, however, it might take a little longer.
Scrub and Rinse
Next, add the soap and scrub every surface of the UTV. You can use motorcycle wash or an automotive detergent for this, and a wash mitt or sponge, to clean your vehicle without ruining it. A small, stiff brush can make it easier to access some of the nooks and crannies, while still getting everything cleaned.
Drying
You can let your UTV air dry if the weather is good and you have other tasks to work on. Or you can also use a lint-free towel to dry it by hand. An air compressor can help you quickly dry some of the harder-to-reach corners. It can also be used to dry the entire side-by-side, although it might take longer.
