ATV Mudding Essentials
Mudding is a popular alternative to traditional ATV trail riding. It offers a new and exciting way to enjoy your favorite trails. However, since mud consists of two substances that can harm your ATV, dirt, and water, you will need to take proper precautions before you hit the trail. That is why Peak Powersports LLC has created this guide to preparing your ATV for mudding.
Snorkel Kits
Even a little bit of moisture can kill your ATV’s engine if it finds its way inside, and since there may be times while mudding that more than half of your vehicle is submerged, that is a major concern. Luckily, a snorkel kit can help prevent this from happening. Your average snorkel kit will consist of extended air intakes, extended CVT inlets, and outlet exhausts. As the name implies, these additions act a lot like a snorkel for your ATV, raising the inlets and outlets so that air can get in and out of your engine without fear of any water getting in.
Mud Tires
While any set of large tires will be helpful for mudding since they will make you less likely to sink, we recommend you seek out a set of mud tires for your ATV. These tires are designed with generously spaced lugs to provide better traction on muddy trails, which can improve your mudding experience immensely.
Mudguard Kits
If you are familiar with mud flaps, mudguard kits act in much the same way for your ATV. These plastic fender extensions help reduce spray and protect your four-wheeler from mud. Mudguard kits are particularly useful for those who choose to mud with a group, as they allow you to ride closer together without spraying each other with dirt and muck.
